WoW Alchemy
Guide

In this WoW Alchemy Guide, you’re going to learn all
about the profession of alchemy in the World of
Warcraft.
WoW Alchemy and Herbalism
Alchemy is one of the primary professions and should be done in
tandem and supported with the Herbalism profession. Why?
Because alchemists mix herbs to make healing potions, mana
potions, elixirs, and other concoctions. Herbalists collect and
gather herbs used in alchemical brews. Herbalism makes it
possible for alchemists to gather herbs for making potions
instead of buying the herbs from the auction house which is
costly and time consuming. Almost every alchemy recipe requires
them, and many potions need more than one type of herb to
make.
Any WoW Alchemy Guide worth its salt will recommend to be
both an alchemist and a herbalist for maximum
benefit.
The Apprentice Alchemist
All professions begin at the Apprentice level, so seek out a
suitable alchemy trainer to learn new alchemy recipes and
increase skill levels. Trainers can be found in all major
cities.
At the outset of the game, alchemists and herbalists will
naturally only be able to execute the most basic abilities. For
example, a beginner alchemist can only blend the basic and
weaker potions, such as the minor healing potion. As skill
levels increases, alchemists are able to undergo additional
training from various trainers from which they learn how to mix
better and more powerful potions and elixirs. Skill levels rise
by repeatedly performing the basic
tasks.
The game uses a system of augmenting skill levels where several
tasks become regular at a certain point. Mixing lower level
potions will add to the skill level of an Apprentice. As
ability progresses, however, lower tasks can only add little
benefits to the character or none at all. Once higher level
tasks are available to the skilled alchemist when characters
advance into the game, beginner level tasks become
useless.
WoW Alchemy Trainers
Asking around as well as exploring the world can help in
finding alchemy trainers. NPC trainers of alchemy from the
Alliance and the Horde have titles that represent them
depending on their skill levels. This also includes the neutral
alchemists. They are all categorized as Alchemy Trainers,
Master Alchemy Trainers, and Grandmaster Alchemy
Trainers.
Neutral Alchemy Trainers can be found in Booty Bay in
Stranglethorn Vale and at Razorfen Downs. Neutral Master
Alchemy Trainers are in the Lower City at Shattrath City. Grand
Master Alchemy Trainers are located in the Argent Tournament
Grounds in Icecrown, and at the Agronomical Apothecary and
Magus Commerce Exchange in Dalaran.
Alliance Alchemy Trainers can be located in Thelsamar in Loch
Modan, in the Vault of Lights at Exodar, Dolanaar in
Terdrassil, east of the Stormwind Gates in Elwynn Forest, Azure
Watch in Azuremyst Isle, at Tinkertown in Ironforge, Mage
Quarter in Stormwind, Silverwind Refuge in Ashenvale, at the
Craftsmen’s Terrace in Darnassus, at Theramore Isle in the
Dustwallow Marsh, and at Feathermoon Stronghold in
Feralas.
Master Alchemy Trainers of the Alliance are found in Honor Hold
in the Hellfire Peninsula. Alliance Grand Master Alchemy
Trainers are in Valiance Keep in Borean Tundra and at Valgarde
in Howling Fjord.
Alchemy Trainers of the Horde can be found in Drag in
Orgrimmar, Sen’jin Village in Durotar, Sartheril’s Haven in
Eversong Woods, Tarren Mill at Hillsbrad Foothills, in Brill at
Tirisfal Glades, at Middle Rise in Thunder Bluff, the
Apothecarium in Undercity, Court of the Sun in Silvermoon City,
and in Stonard at Swamp of Sorrows.
Horde Master Alchemy Trainers are in Agmar’s Hammer and
Venomspite in Dragonblight and Thrallmar in Hellfire Peninsula.
Horde Grand Master Alchemy Trainers are located in Warsong Hold
in Borean Tundra and at Vengeance Landing in Howling
Fjord.
Alchemist Leveling
Apprentices must be at a level no lower than 5. Apprentice
alchemists can have a maximum of 75 skill points. Apprentices
can start learning the Journeyman level with the suitable
trainer when they reach 50 skill points.
Next is the Journeyman level. A level of 10 is needed to become
a Journeyman. They can gain 150 skill points maximum but can
learn the Expert stage with the right trainer at 125
points.
The third stage is the Expert stage. This stage requires level
20. Experts can have a maximum of 225 points. They can begin
training for the Artisan level with the appropriate trainer
when they reach 200 points.
The fourth stage is the Artisan stage. This requires level 35.
Artisan alchemists can gain up to 300 maximum skill points.
Apprentices, Journeyman, Experts, and Artisans may be trained
by Alchemy Trainers or higher.
